Domestic Violence Program

MO-07-0027 DV

The Domestic Violence Program (DVP) has been in existence since 1996 after enactment of the Battered Women Protection Act of 1994.  The DVP funds 94 shelter-based domestic violence shelters to provide emergency and non-emergency direct services to battered women and their children; domestic violence prevention activities; and outreach to unserved/underserved populations.  The DVP serves approximately 200,000+ women and their children each year.  Services may include emergency shelter, transitional housing, legal advocacy and assistance with temporary restraining orders, counseling, and other support services.
